Each year at Walt Disney World's Port Orleans Resort, Mardi Gras is celebrated in true New Orleans style. This year, the Mardi Gras parade was themed after extinct Disney parks parades.
The Port Orleans Mardi Gras parade is unique because each golf cart is designed by teams of cast members who work in different departments at the resort. It is a competition and after the parade, cast members hold up signs with QR codes so everyone can vote for their favorite.
Some of the floats for the parade were decorated as the Rainy Day parade, Boo To You parade, and Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade. For a full video of the parade, check out our YouTube video here.
Our favorite float was the Stitch float inspired by the now extinct Disney Stars and Motor Cars parade.
After the parade, the festivities continue all day with a live jazz band, uniquely themed beignets, street performers, and mask decorating. Then, from 5:00 - 10:00pm, you can participate in special giveaways, and enjoy a live jazz band in the Scat Cats Lounge from 7:30 - 11:30pm.
If you plan on attending Mardi Gras at Port Orleans in 2025, here is what you need to know:
The parade is from 10:00 - 11:00am and starts at Riverside, making its way over to French Quarter around 10:45am.
Unless you have a confirmed dining reservation, you likely won't be allowed past security to park at Port Orleans. Instead, park at Disney Springs in either the Lime or Orange parking garage, then walk over to the resort bus stop behind the Coach store.
The first bus for Port Orleans departs at 10:00am, so you will still have time to catch the parade at French Quarter.
Disney Springs boat service begins at 10:30am, so you won't want to take the boats on the way there if you want to see the parade. However, you can take the boats on your way back to Disney Springs or if you attend the evening festivities.
We had wonderful time celebrating Mardi Gras at Disney's Port Orleans Resort and highly recommend it if you plan on being at Walt Disney World. The schedule of events tend to be similar from year to year, but there might be some differences. Disney does not advertise the Mardi Gras celebration, so you would have to ask cast members working at Port Orleans for official details.
